One Year

September 26, 2006

Wedding (pro)

It has been an awesome year. As we are saving up for a trip to Canada, and find ourselves at the end of a pay cycle we are spending the evening low-key. We will get some Thai takeaway (Panang is probably my favorite food ever!), pick up the 4th Season of Scrubs, and look through the last year of pictures/memories we have shared. Like I said, low-key. But it was special (as I am posting this post-event).

It is kinda crazy to think we’ve been married a year already, and on the other hand it seems like we’ve been together for much much longer. There are many opportunities on the horizon for us, and I am blessed to have Jo to take them with. She is the best.

Wide World Of Sports & Stuff

September 25, 2006

The Ultimate Elimination Bruce Champions (and Kirk) Grand Final was held this Saturday. UEB has not been played for a long time down under… it has at least been over a year. Kirk and I managed to make it into the top three… which meant we had sealed our fate almost immediately. That is to say Kirk finished 2nd… again… and I got no votes… because the UEB playing Australian is a bitter bitter creature. Hopefully it’ll spark a resurgence of the game once again.

On hockey news, our winter comp ended last night. We (The Crusaders) squeaked out a come from behind over-time win. Summer comp to start in a couple of weeks I guess.

Should have some more pics to post soon. We took Kirk to the AFL semi-final on Friday night. The Sydney Swans pulled out a win to go back to the Grand Final for the 2nd consecutive year. I’m sure he’ll tell you about it at some point.

Took Kirk and my friend Dan to the album launch for The Falls End… who are also mates of mine. Opening for them were Another Day Down and Luke Webb. All were good… but forgot some ear buds so my ears were a bit achy at the end of the night. Check them out.

I got some shots back from a show I went to on Saturday. Hopefully I’ll have them scanned and up today. Also taking in my camera to get serviced. Hopefully getting the TTL meter to work in automatic mode will help my cause.

Kirkgate

September 12, 2006

SO Kirk is now living in our spare room, and being dragged along to whatever it is that’s going on because we don’t trust him to be alone… he likes to “solve” “perceived problems” with overly dramatic and impractical means. For example, sleeping with one of my hockey sticks so he can turn the light off in the room without leaving the bed, even though there is a power outlet and a perfectly good lamp on the desk beside his bed within arm’s reach. You see the dilemma?

We have thus far introduced him to such things that bring us joy as: Scrubs and Thai food. As well as subjected him to other things like Neighbours and Meerkat Manor. Oye vey. He has blessed us in turn with maple syrup, Arrested Development Season 3, and the Weird Al TV show.

He stated last night that I was the only one who he has heard use the phrase, “No worries.” I told him it was because I was the only one who he has disappointed so far and that the phrases’ use would pick up as people got to know him like I did.

I am taking him to play some Aussie Rules Football on Wednesday. We’ll see how it goes.

Skippy

Australia’s answer to Lassie. Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. I kid you not. It’s time that the rest of the world knows.

“You are invited to enter the world of the sweatshop and become a factory worker. Do you accept the challenge? Can you tirelessly make sports shoes for less than a dollar an hour as you struggle to support your family.”

via Jonny from a while ago, but forgot about it until now. Sorry.

The Crocodile Hunter Died Today

September 4, 2006

The story here.

Apparently he took a stingray to the chest. They are saying they have never seen anything like it, or heard of anyone dying like this before. Goodbye Steve. To be honest I have always thought you would go like this… filming one of your shows… and doing what you love.

Another change. As some have requested you can now comment without a blogger account. We’ll see how it goes.
