Moving Around

August 16, 2007

Ok, so we are almost settled, and stuff is chugging along so here’s some point form updates:

New House
So we are all moved into our new rental house. Our current house has being sold, and since we didn’t know when that was going to happen, we got on it early. That turned out to be a good decision. Stressful at the time, but good.

The end of the communal house” was an inevitability, but we had hoped to stay a few months longer. House sharing has been a fantastic way for all of us to get some stuff paid off, and both of us were a month or two away from clearing up our remaining debt. As it turns out, our flatmates are sticking around for at least a few months until they sort out what they will do next. This will result in us saving up as much as possible and paying off whatever we can, until we go into “saving up for the one income family” mode.

The new place is right in the middle of the community our church is in, where I do the after school kids club, and the community dinner on Thursdays. Moving “into” the community is the next logical step in our sharing life with the friends we have made there. So we are excited about the opportunities. Already it has put me face to face with a side of life that I am not very comfortable with, and has been raising some issues in my own life that I will need to tackle…and we’ve only been here 4 days! More to come I am sure.

No More 4 Day Work Week
I am not bitter about this. Really I am not. But it was a glorious thing! I highly reccomend the 4 day work week. If you can get it… do it! I will be chasing it again in the future, but for now it is elusive.

Nursing
I have been accepted into the Enrolled Nursing course for this term, AND got my first choice of placements. I’ll be doing all my prac at the Westmead Children’s Hospital which is 2 train stops from where we are living and a short drive. I am in the process of getting my immunizations done, and then I will receive an official offer from the hospital, but everything is a go!

Brother Down
Time has screamed by us, but my brother will be joinnig us in a week! Scary stuff. I am looking forward to his being around, and he doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll be getting some quality first time uncle training in too! So, any of you who would like to shower us with gifts, give my folks a call. No pressure.

That’s all for now.

End transmission.
