Our team lost in the semi-finals in our winter hockey comp. It went to overtime, and then a penalty shoot out. We lost in the 6th round. Great game though.

We celebrated 2 years together yesterday. Anniversary breakfast will be had on Saturday.

We started anti-natal classes. Bring on the videos.

I have almost completed my first week of my nursing program. There is a ridiculous amount of info, in a short amount of time. Manual handling, bed making, and hand washing practice is needed before my assessments. First exam is next Friday and I need 100% to pass it. Medication administration.

You will be reading very little, and seeing very little of me online. I need to study. Love ya’ll. Gone.

Birthday

Jo's Birthday

We celebrated our last family birthday as a childless couple two weekends ago. My beautiful wife turned another page in her life on Saturday, and took another glorious step towards 30. We have journeyed a bit in the almost 2 years we’ve been married. We have lived in 5 different places. We have lived with 4 different other people. And to be honest… and against our wishes… we’ll probably get to move a few more times in the near future.

She is my best friend in the whole world. I love spending time with her, and we enjoy (and sometimes tolerate) many of the same things. She has accompanied me to (and thoroughly enjoyed) a Weird Al concert. I have watched the entire 6hrs of the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. She is my biggest supporter and fan and each day begins and ends with me telling her I love her.

Jo is not sporty (and I may be known to comment on her hand/eye coordination from time to time ;) ), but will watch whatever I am playing. Her knowledge of hockey is vast as it pertains to my team. She is a doer, and finds it damn near impossible to relax/rest/do nothing… something I don’t suffer with! She has bested me in the last 2 games of Settlers we have played, and when provoked can be competitive. I don’t think I have ever beaten her at backgammon.

In short (and she is), Jo is awesome. People are better for knowing her, or knowing of her. She keeps me in line, and has been seen “sushing” me in public (distinguished by a gentle caressing of the forearm). She is a favorite aunt (sorry Fiona), an attentive sister, the favorite daughter (again, sorry Fiona) and will be an amazing mother.

Jo is a very special woman. She’d have to be to put up with me.

Ding Dong

September 14, 2007

the debt is dead! I own nothing to nobody! Financially speaking of course. The concentrated effort this year so far, and co-op living has been very beneficial in this endeavor. I hope all of you find that same freedom.

1.5

September 6, 2007

Change has been a bit of a theme for the last few years, and there are some huge changes coming up.

So, the majority of my friends, both old and new, have children. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention, or maybe they never talked about it… but I am finding our pregnancy fascinating. I think it’s amazing that there is a little boy inside Jo’s belly. Growing. Kicking. Hearing my voice. It blows my mind. Before we go to sleep each night, we place hands on the bump and wait for him to give us a kick before we fall asleep. There is so much change involved with having a baby, that I guess I have never thought through. I am finding myself thinking about things differently. My role. New insecurities. New fears. It’s all changing.

I am in the last week and a half of my job. I have a uniform fitting on the 19th, and orientation on the 21st, and then it all begins the following Monday. 8 weeks in class, and then I get assigned to a shift at the Children’s Hospital. I am looking forward to finally getting started. I am looking forward to getting another 1.5hrs to sleep in. I am looking forward to going back to school again. I am looking forward to the new challenge. In short, I am ready for a change. Plus I get a stethoscope.

My brother has introduced me to Warcraft. Like I needed another thing to waste time on.

It has been great having Jer down here the last few weeks. I think we’ll try and keep him around as long as we can. We haven’t lived together since highschool, but so far it’s working pretty good.

And, he just got Tie Fighter to work on his laptop, so I gotta go.

Proof He’s Here

Brothers

So here we are. Jeremiah’s inaugural Aussie Rules Football match, and it was a killer. Sydney came out on fire and we leading by 50+ at the half. I have been warming him up with some 5am mornings, and unlike other people I have brought to work (you know who you are), he has withstood enough blood letting to earn himself some bling.

Now if I can only help him overcome his fear (and subsequent nightmares) of all things creepy and crawly here in Oz.
